Joseph Ballarini Founder and Editor-in-Chief Tail Fly Fishing Magazine Dr. Joseph Ballarini is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician, a
conservationist, and a lifelong fisherman and publisher. Originally from Pennsylvania,
Dr. Ballarini spent his early years fishing for trout in Pennsylvania and striped bass
and other coastal treats in New Jersey. After becoming obsessed with fly fishing for
tarpon and permit, he moved to Florida and spent most of his time fishing in the Keys
and the Caribbean. He is a husband, a father and when not working in the emergency
department, he devotes his time to conservation issues and creative publishing. His
passion for saltwater fly fishing manifested when he started Tail Fly Fishing Magazine,
the only saltwater fly fishing magazine in print in 2011.
Joe Berger Publishers Marketing Sales Consultant Joseph Berger Associates Joe Berger is a magazine circulation and marketing consultant based in Chicago.
Joe grew up surrounded by magazines, books and newspapers as his father was a
magazine wholesaler in western Massachusetts. Joe is a graduate of Hartwick College
in Oneonta, NY. He consults for a diverse group of publishers ranging from: The XO
Group, Highlights for Children, RFP Corp. and A.R. Harding & Co. Other clients include
the launch of ACT veterans Via Corsa and ROVA Magazine, and other clients include
small to medium sized publishers in categories such as hunting and fishing, regional
city and state and children's entertainment.
Zenebe Likyeleh Beyene Instructional Assistant Professor of Journalism Instruction and Director of International Programs Meek School of Journalism and New Media In a variety of positions, Zenebe has developed distinct leadership, teaching,
mentorship and team skills. Over the years, he has been engaged in consultation,
research, teaching and held administrative positions that demanded strong and
flexible leadership. Consulting for government and international agencies provided him
different perspectives on various issues. Teaching in Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda and
the U.S.A. has given him unique opportunity to take his career to the next level. His PhD
dissertation (Media during Political Transition) closely examines media's role in ethnic
violence during political transition, with Rwanda and Kenya as the central focus, with
Egypt, Ethiopia and Nigeria included as secondary cases.
Linda Thomas Brooks President and CEO MPA: The Association of Magazine Media Before joining MPA, Thomas Brooks came from the other side of the media desk. She
was Executive VP and Managing Director of GM Mediaworks in Detroit, President of
Ingenuity Media at the Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia, and Executive Director of
Media & Marketing at Trilogy, a privately-held business technology company. She was
also the co-founder and president of GearDigital, a data-driven integrated agency and a
subsidiary of Wilson RMS. Her experience in the media business has included creating
new organizational structures and strategic approaches for the ever-increasing size
and scope of the media landscape.
Scott Coopwood Publisher Delta Magazine Scott Coopwood graduated from Ole Miss with a B.A. in English in 1984. After college,
he entered the magazine and newspaper publishing business and starting business
journals in Jackson and Cleveland, Mississippi, the latter being the first of its kind
in the Mississippi Delta. In July 2003, Scott started Delta Magazine, the popular bi-
monthly lifestyle magazine dedicated to the Mississippi Delta. During his 28 years in the
publishing business, Scott has also owned and operated weekly newspapers and he
continues to oversee a book publishing company, an advertising and PR firm, a website
development firm, and an entertainment business. Scott serves on many boards across
Mississippi including the Entergy Mississippi Advisory Board.
Deborah Corn Principal, Chief Blogger, and Intergalactic Ambassador to the Printerverse™ Print Media Centr Deborah Corn is the Intergalactic Ambassador to The Printerverse at Print Media Centr, a Print Buyerologist, industry speaker and blogger, host of Podcasts from
The Printerverse, cultivator of Print Production Professionals, the #1 print group on
LinkedIn, host of #PrintChat every Wednesday at 4PM ET on Twitter, and the founder
of International Print Day. She is the recipient of several industry honors including the

Marisa Davis Associate Director, Product Marketing MNI Targeted Group As an accomplished researcher, brand, and product marketer, Marisa has defined
and implemented go-to-market strategy across campaigns, content, national sales
materials, websites, and MNI's award-winning sales enablement application - One
Voice Live. Marisa has her finger on the pulse of the latest industry trends, making her
an instrumental player in the roll out of both print and digital products. She spearheads
programs to help educate and invigorate our brand and agency partners, recently
authoring an educational whitepaper and presentation on the value of professionally
published, curated content.
Daniel Dejan ETC Print Creative Manager Sappi North America As an educator, designer, humanist, mentor and lover of all things graphic arts, Daniel
Dejan has been an evangelist for the power of paper and print for the span of his
career. He is the face of the etc (education-training-consulting) Group at Sappi Fine
Paper North America where he delivers etc services to Sappi's wide range of clients.
With more than 40 years of design, production, print buying and on-press experience,
Dejan is always ready to share his knowledge of the successful and effective marriage
of print and paper. On the road 200 days a year, he is a hands-on, in-person resource -
delivering presentations to designers, printers, corporations and paper merchants as
well as to organizations at public and private events and conferences throughout North
Jim Elliott Founder and President James G. Elliott Co. The Elliott Co.'s hands-on work with more than 400 media brands has given the
leadership team a tremendous breadth of knowledge about the challenges faced by
publishers and digital media owners today. Mr. Elliott has leveraged that knowledge to
form a consulting division, Ads&IDEAS, with its own website and client roster, spanning
b2b and b2c media, Internet and digital sales, single-title publishers, associations and
large media conglomerates, including some of the largest publishing brands in America
as well as three Fortune 300 companies exploring the market.
Dave Forsman EVP of Sales TNG Dave is currently EVP of Sales, U.S. at TNG - A Division of the Jim Pattison Group. Prior
to joining TNG, Dave was CMO for Mercury Retail Services. Preceding his tenure at
Mercury, Dave held various positions with Conde' Nast Publications, and Time Inc.
Retail during his 32 years in the magazine newsstand industry. Dave received his
Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State University in Business, with a Marketing
Concentration. Dave is married to Sarah Forsman, and they have two daughters.
Tony Frost Senior Vice President TVGM LLC, TV Guide After moving from London's Fleet Street, where he was a senior news executive in
the Nineties, Tony carved out an impressive career at American Media as Editorial
Director and was the first journalist to serve as Editor In Chief of the company's top
three selling titles - National Enquirer, Star, and Globe. He also re-tooled and turned
around the Enquirer's international edition and was in charge of 50 AMI Special
Interest Publications. Key areas of his expertise include how to grow revenue in the
challenging print market, recognizing and maximizing opportunities for audiences
that are getting older, and reaching a balance of attracting younger target consumers
without turning off the more mature reader.
Natashia Gregoire Manager Global Reputation Management & Strategies and editor of Access magazine FedEx Natashia Gregoire is a communications professional with more than 18 years of
experience across a variety of communications disciplines. She's the global reputation
lead for FedEx, one of the world's most admired and recognizable brands. Natashia
oversees programs that highlight the role FedEx plays in a connected world. She
leads a team of communications professionals who serve as the company's strategic
center for reputation management including measurement, thought leadership and
sustainability programs among other responsibilities.
Abdulsalam Haykal CEO of Haykal Group United Arab Emirates Haykal Group includes Haykal Media Group, publisher of the Arabic editions of
Harvard Business Review, MIT Technology Review, Popular Science, Aliqtisadi.com,
Manhom, and other outlets; Transtek Systems, maker of cloud enterprise systems
and online services; and Labeeb Labs, which creates Arabic language technology
products, e-commerce ventures, and mobile payment solutions. Haykal serves on

James Hewes President and CEO FIPP: The Network for Global Media, United Kingdom Beginning his career at Barclays Bank as a Business Consultant, James worked across
BBC Worldwide and BBC Magazines from 2001 to 2012 building a track record of
success in marketing, digital and print publishing, events and international business
development. He was the launch Publisher of olive magazine and grew BBC Magazines'
licensing portfolio from 8 to 55 editions including 20 editions of Top Gear Magazine.
James was also a key member of the team that sold BBC Magazines to private equity in
November 2011 for £120m.
Mona Hidayet Executive Director, Clients and Products Advantage CS Mona Hidayet is the Executive Director, Clients and Products at Advantage CS, a leading
international subscription and membership software solution established in 1979 and
based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mona graduated from Eastern Michigan University
with a BA in International Business and Marketing, and went on to earn her MBA, with
a focus on Information Systems. Mona entered the world of publishing in 2000, first
as a lead implementation specialist and then an account manager, implementing and
managing several complex accounts. Over the last 18 years, Mona has worked with
publishers of all sizes, from varying industries, and from all over the world.
Samir Husni Founder and Director Magazine Innovation Center Samir "Mr. Magazine™" Husni, Ph.D. is the founder and director of the Magazine
Innovation Center at the University of Mississippi's Meek School of Journalism and New
Media. He is also Professor and Hederman Lecturer at the School of Journalism. As
Mr. Magazine™ he engages in media consulting and research for the magazine media
and publishing industry. Dr. Husni has been interviewed by major U.S. and International
media on subjects related to the magazine industry. He has appeared on CBS News
Sunday Morning, Good Morning America, CNBC, CNN, CNNFN, PBS, and on numerous
radio talk shows including National Public Radio's Morning and Weekend Editions as
well as On The Media. When he is not in his office reading magazines, Dr. Husni is at the
newsstands buying magazines.
Joe Hyrkin CEO Issuu Joe joined Issuu in early 2013 after more than 20 years of leading startup/growth
companies in executive, business-development and product roles. He served as CEO of
Reverb during two rounds of financing; in addition, as head of SingleFeed, Joe oversaw
that firm's acquisition by Alibaba. Before that, Joe held sales and leadership positions at
Gaia Interactive, Yahoo, Flickr and Virage. He directed the Economist Group's business
in China and has extensive board and tech-advisor experience. Joe was educated at
the State University of New York at Albany and as a foreign student at Beijing Normal
University in China.
Bonnie Kintzer President & CEO Trusted Media Brands Ms. Kintzer joined Trusted Media Brands in April 2014. Originally known as The
Reader's Digest Association, she rebranded the company to reflect the portfolio of
trusted brands including Taste of Home, The Family Handyman, Haven Home Network,
Reminisce, Birds & Blooms and Reader's Digest. In that time, she has focused on a
growth strategy including the launch of MyDIYUniversity.com, Taste of Home Special
Delivery as well as digital growth to 63MM unique visitors across all brands.
Jerry Lynch President, Magazine and Books Retail Association Jerry Lynch is President of MBR, the Magazine and Books at Retail association. He
became president of its preceding association, IPDA, in 2006, until the merger with
PBAA in 2016 forming MBR. He continues work to advance the book and magazine
categories position in the retail marketplace. Prior to joining IPDA Jerry enjoyed a long
career with Wegmans Food Markets where he held positions in store operations and
merchandising. Within merchandising his career centered on General Merchandise.
Today, through MBR, Jerry is engaged in a wide range of industry support and
education activities both within the supply chain and the retail community.
Daren Mazzucca Vice President/Publisher for Martha Stewart Living
and Martha Stewart Weddings magazines Meredith He is responsible for leadership of advertising sales for both brands and their related
business operations. Mazzucca joined Meredith in 2010 and has held multiple senior
sales leadership positions at the company. Most recently, he served as Publisher of
Better Homes and Gardens magazine, where he was responsible for expanding the
brand's client base and improving advertising performance. Previously in his career,
he held management or senior leadership positions at Better Homes and Gardens,
Midwest Living, Good Housekeeping, Country Living, Parade, and Reader's Digest. He
holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Oneonta.
William Michalopoulos Vice President, Retail, Sales & Marketing PubWorX Will Michalopoulos is Vice President, Retail Sales & Marketing for PubWorX, the Conde
Nast/Hearst joint venture. Will heads up the PW retail team responsible for all 40
Hearst and Conde Nast regular frequency titles and over 80 related specials. PubWorx
also represents several prestigious newsstand publisher clients including Trusted
Media Brands, Entrepreneur, Garden & Gun, American Girl Douglas Elliman, Alta
Magazine and CR Fashion Book.
Kevin Novak CEO, Founder and Chief Strategist 2040 Digital 2040 Digital Founder and CEO Kevin Novak has spent nearly two decades helping
organizations find their place in the digital world. He's a four-time winner of the
prestigious Webby Award from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences
(IADAS). Previously, as Chief Digital Officer and director of education outreach at
the Library of Congress, Novak built a centralized department to bring together and
manage the Library's Digital efforts to serve more than 22 million digitized items (books,

Mark Potts Managing Editor Alta The Journal of Alta California Mark Potts is the managing editor of Journal of Alta California (Alta), the quarterly

to coverage of the West Coast. Over the past 25 years, Potts has been a leader in the
development of innovative strategies and products in online and print media as an
entrepreneur, executive, consultant and educator.
Tom Quinlan President and CEO LSC Communications, Inc. Thomas Quinlan is Chairman and CEO of LSC Communications, a global leader in
traditional and digital print, print-related services and office products that serves the
needs of publishers, merchandisers and retailers, with over 20,000 employees, annual
revenues of over $3.5 billion with operations in Europe, Canada and Mexico. He actively
supports organizations that focus on literacy, health and development and serves on
the Board of Trustees for Pace University, YMCA of Greater New York, Curry College,
and The American Ireland Fund. In 2011 Mr. Quinlan received AJC's National Human
Relations Award, which honors professional and philanthropic leadership.
Sebastian Raatz Publisher/Co-founder Centennial Media Sebastian is president and co-founder of Centennial Media, a magazine publisher
dedicated 100 percent to retail. Centennial publishes SIPs in a wide variety of segments
including home, food, decorating, entertainment, travel, history, and current events.
The company operates both in North America and in German-speaking markets. Before
starting Centennial, Sebastian was Executive Vice President at Bauer Media Group
where he developed and marketed celebrity weeklies as well as a portfolio of teen titles
for the newsstand.
Jen Ripple Founder and Editor-in-Chief DUN Magazine Jen Ripple is the Editor in Chief of DUN Magazine. She is a member of the Board of
Directors for Fly Fishers International and the American Fly Fishing Trade Association.
When not on the water, she spends her time empowering women in fly fishing by
teaching fly tying and fly casting clinics, speaking nationwide on issues regarding
women in fly fishing and devoting her time to conservation efforts through nonprofits.
A sounding board for women in this currently male-dominated sport, Jen has created a
home base for women worldwide to connect and engage in the art of fly fishing.
Bo Sacks President Precision Media Group A veteran of the printing/publishing industry since 1970, Bob Sacks was always an
innovator. Even back in the 70s he followed a more creative path than usual. He started
his career where some people end -- with the founding of his own weekly newspaper
in the metro New York area. After several years in the alternative press, publishing
newspapers in New York and Tucson, AZ., he went on to become one of the founding
fathers of High Times Magazine. Since then, Bob has held positions that include

Ray Shaw Executive Vice President, Managing Director MagNet Ray has been in the magazine newsstand business for nearly 4 decades, beginning his
tenure with Distribution Services, Inc. or American Media, Inc. as it is known today.
After 22 years with AM and holding multiple executive positions, Ray moved to MagNet
where he was the primary architect of the online reporting system we know today as
NIRC (Newsstand Industry Resource Center). Today, Ray is the Executive Vice President
and Managing Director of MagNet. Ray oversees all operations of MagNet, including
Operations, Publisher Services and Business Intelligence. MagNet is the industry's only

Tony Silber Founder of M10 Magazine and President Long Hill Media Tony Silber was part of the acquisition team at Red 7 Media that purchased FOLIO:,
CM, and their related products in August 2004. Before the acquisition, Silber, in 2003,
launched M10, the executive-level magazine and information service for the magazine
industry. He is also president of Long Hill Media and considered one of the experts in
his field. Prior to M10, Silber was publisher of FOLIO: and Circulation Management
when it was owned by Primedia. Silber was also editor of FOLIO: from 1998-2000.
Silber has a bachelor's degree in history from the State University of New York at
John Thames Founder and Editor Covey Rise magazine John Thames is the CEO, Publisher, and Editor in Chief of Covey Rise.

John Thomas Publisher Psychology Today, Sussex Publisher, LLC John Thomas is the Executive Vice President of Sussex Publishers and the Publisher
of its flagship title Psychology Today. Prior to joining Sussex 10 years ago he worked
for a diverse variety of media titles including: Rolling Stone, Town & Country, Harper's
Bazaar, Victoria, Esquire and Elle. John also launched his own magazine Men's
Perspective in 1994--and sold it in 1999 when he co-founded Route 224 Media Group
an advertising and branding agency specializing in prestige retail. He holds degrees
from the University of North Texas and Southern Methodist University Graduate
Program of Journalism.
Newell Turner Editorial Director Hearst Magazines Design Group Newell Turner is the editorial director of the Hearst Design Group, where he is
responsible for the collective editorial direction of ELLE DECOR, House Beautiful, and
Veranda. He served for five years as the 22nd editor in chief of House Beautiful, and in
2012 under Newell's leadership, the magazine won its first National Magazine Award
for general excellence - the industry's equivalent of an Oscar - and was a finalist in
the category in 2013. As editorial director of the HDG, he has continued to lead in the
publishing world with the development of innovative editorial production models and

Liz Vaccariello Editorial Director, Parents Magazine Network Meredith Vaccariello has led many of the media industry's most recognizable brands, developing
content across print, digital and social channels. Prior to joining Meredith, Vaccariello
held numerous executive editorial roles including serving as the Chief Content Officer
for Reader's Digest. She has also served as Editor-in-Chief of Rachael Ray Every
Day; Editor-in-Chief of Prevention; Executive Editor of Fitness; and Editor-in-Chief

Jeffrey Vitter Chancellor The University of Mississippi Jeffrey S. Vitter is the 17th chancellor of the University of Mississippi and Distinguished
Professor of Computer and Information Science. He is a passionate advocate for
higher education, with 37 years of experience at Brown, Duke, Purdue, and Texas A&M
Universities and the University of Kansas before becoming chancellor of Mississippi's
flagship university in January 2016.
Thomas Whitney President Democrat Printing & Lithographing A 2005 graduate of Southern Methodist University, Thomas began his career in 2005
at Democrat Printing & Lithographing. DP&L was founded in 1871 as the commercial
printing arm of the Arkansas Democrat Newspaper. Thomas is a third generation
owner of DP&L and current President. Thomas continues his grandfather's solid belief
in the power of the printed page. An active member of the printing community & avid
